Migration program 2025-2026

Today the Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke confirmed that the 2025 - 2026 migration numbers will remain the same as the previous year with annual cap of 185,000 places.

The Australian migration program intake peaked in 2022-2023 at 530,000 a figure in the aftermath of two years of closed borders, which followed by a drop to 446,000 in the year ending 30 June 2024.

The National Planning Levels for overseas students will be at 295,000 for the 2026 fiscal year. The student visa program cohort was the largest temporary migrants entrants in the past 12 months with 207,000 entrants.
