Emergency measures to remain in place till February 2022

The Hon. Greg Hunt MP in a media release today announced that the measures which have been in place since March 2020 will continue until 17 February 2022.

The COVID19 Pandemic is still very much a hazard to Australian public health which after extensive consultation warranted extension of further two months of the human biosecurity emergency period under the Biosecurity Act 2015.

Consequently, the following will continue to be in place:

  1. Mandatory pre-departure testing and mask wearing for international flights

  2. Restrictions on international travel from high risk countries

  3. Restrictions on outbound international travel for unvaccinated Australians

  4. Restrictions on the entry of cruise vessels within Australian territory (this Determination will be reviewed monthly).
